Reclaimed Wood BBQ Scraper
Wire Brushes are Dangerous
Wire bbq brushes might be effective at cleaning your grill, but they are also hazardous to your health. Surgeons are encouraging all of us to throw them out because the wires can come off the brushes and end up in our food. They can then become lodged in our throats which is something surgeons have trouble removing.
Wood BBQ Scraper Replacement
This wood BBQ Scraper is an excellent replacement for your wire brush. It is handmade in Canada from reclaimed cedar. The cedar comes from a shed that stood for 50 years in central Ottawa before being demolished.
These scrapers are attractive, designed for maximum comfort during use and most importantly, they clean your grill without any risk of leaving wire bristles behind.
Each of these environmentally-friendly barbecue scrapers are finished with a food-grade beeswax finish.
BBQ Scraper Options
These cedar scrapers come in two sizes. The smaller (14″ long) one has a long handle and can be used single-handed. The larger scraper (18.5″ long) has an additional hand hold like the butt on a paddle that allows for two-handed use and enables the user to apply greater pressure on the grill when cleaning.
Customizing Your BBQ Scraper
BBQ’s don’t have a single standard grill size. When you receive your scraper it will not have any grooves to correspond to the grill. Before regular use you will need to create the grooves customized to your grill.
Turn your barbecue on high heat. Once the BBQ is hot, place the tip of your scraper on the grill and while applying pressure, move your scraper back and forth to sear grooves into the wood. As you move it to other part of the grill be sure to align the grooves so that you only create one set of grooves that match your BBQ. Through use the grooves will deepen over time.
