I met a mom at a craft show who was looking at my wooden cars and she told me what she really needed was a purse car. She pulled out a metal and plastic matchbox car and said she was concerned about her son swallowing one of the wheels or other small parts. She was also concerned about him ingesting some of the paint on the car.
This purse-size car is the result of that conversation. The cars are made from scrap plywood and various hardwoods in my shop. The plywood is sealed with a food-grade beeswax finish.
Each car is 3.5″ long and 1.5″ tall.
In addition to being an ideal size to carry in a purse or diaper bag, the cars also fit on wooden train tracks like those found in Thomas the Tank Engine sets.
Individual cars are $7.50 or three for $20.
